I.  INTRODUCTION
  • The Riverside Emergency Communication Group is affiliated with the City of Riverside's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program and other emergency service partners within Southern California.
  • We hold this weekly net to promote emergency communications and facilitate interoperability in the event of a local or widespread disaster.
  • On this Net we share tips, suggestions and common practices related to communications, preparedness, gear reviews and survival skills that are relevant to the EMCOMM Operator.

  • Teen Academy
  • The Riverside Police Department's Citizen Academy was established in 1994 with the goal of providing community members with an inside look at how the department runs its day-to-day operation. In addition, the Citizen Academy provides an opportunity for community members to engage with department personnel. The 8-10 week course is designed to give citizens an overview of the department's function and operational methods. The course will provide an insight on how police personnel perform their duties.
  • The Riverside Police Department in addition to the regular Citizen's Academy is now offering a Summer Teen Academy, that is a 8 week course. This academy is similar of that of the regular Citizen Academy but also introduces physical training in the curriculum.
  • Live within the City of Riverside

  • Must be employed within the City of Riverside
  • Must be able to commit to an 8 week program(Six sessions minimum commitment to graduate) that involves meeting for three hours per session one night per week

    • Typically on Saturday or Sunday mornings at 7:00 AM.
    • Mount Rubidoux has been our most visited site due to proximity to town but we have also ventured into the San Bernardino Mountains near Wrightwood and the Jurupa Hills areas.
